23 Iranian provinces affected by dust storms
TEHRAN, June 29 (MNA) – The deputy director of Iran’s Environmental Protection Organization has said that 23 provinces are currently affected by dust storms.
Hormozgan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Yazd, and Kerman are the most affected provinces in the country where dust storms are caused by internal factors, Ali Mohammad Shaeri told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency in an interview published on Friday.
He added that dust storms descend on other affected provinces from the deserts and dried-up ponds of certain neighboring countries, including Iraq.
Shaeri went on to say that Iran has repeatedly announced its readiness to help Iraq tackle the issue of dust storms, but the Arab country has not yet taken any measure in this regard.
